Sudden Somethings (under the fiscal sponsorship of Fractured Atlas Inc, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.; Co-Founded by Marc Perez & Manuel J. Perez III) is an organization dedicated to the proliferation of activities, knowledge, research, and communal practices in improvisation in a transdisciplinary context.

We host a biannual, bicoastal improvisation festival, Some Things From Nothing, every six months, alternating between venues in California, USA, and New England, USA. Regularly hosting ~20+ improvisers, the festival is designed to enable improvised logistical and performance formats while bringing together diverse communities.

We are formulating an annual two-week Improvisation Investigation residency for all improvisers, no matter their background. The residents will be encouraged to deepen their relationship to improvisation through whatever means or focus resonates with them while being provided lodging, meals, and community forum spaces. Residents will also have an opportunity to be paid for sharing this work in a format deemed appropriate to them. Residents may have an improvisation practice, a practice related to improvisation, or no practice or discipline. All with a connection to spontaneous decision-making are encouraged to apply and participate.

We are also developing an online resource that offers access to supplementary materials on improvisation, including critical research, texts, archives, and various other formats, such as music, movies, magazines, and other media.
